Sabalenka to Continue Dominance Down Under

It has been another dominant run to the Australian Open final for the top-seeded player in the competition.

Sabalenka has dropped just one set on her way to this stage, and she breezed through against a challenging opponent in the previous round. The reigning champion dropped just six games against eleventh-seed Paula Badosa, and she was as dominant as ever on her serve.

Sabalenka smashed just two aces, but she won 77% of the points on her first serve, and limited Badosa to just one break point opportunity.

Keys Targeting Historic Win

Madison Keys has already outperformed her expectations at the Australian Open this year. However, her run to this stage shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as she is a two-time semi-finalist at the event.

The American will be making her second appearance in a Grand Slam final, and her first since losing against Sloane Stephens in dominant fashion at the 2017 US Open. However, her character throughout her run has been a powerful trait.

She eliminated Elena Rybakina in the fourth round, before overcoming Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals. Once again, her toughness was on display yesterday when overcoming pre-tournament favorite Iga Swiatek, despite dropping the first set.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Madison Keys Pick

Keys has overcome challenges throughout the tournament, and the fact that she out-battled Swiatek in a tiebreak in her semi-final only showcases her excellent character.

However, Sabalenka has looked near-impossible on the hard courts Down Under since 2022, and her winning sequence at the Grand Slam looks hard to bet against.
