Event Preview

All eyes will be on Pebble Beach this weekend, as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am gets underway on Thursday. A star-studded field will be in contention for the $20 million purse, with the action taking place at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, covering a total of 6,816 yards.

Scottie Scheffler makes his return to action this weekend, and is a hot favorite at the top of the betting. The American was the dominant player on the PGA Tour last season, winning seven from 19 events, and making the top ten in all but three of his appearances.

Rory McIlroy returned to action a few weeks back and took a tie for fourth in the Dubai Desert Classic. On the PGA Tour, the Northern Irishman won two events last season, and made the cut in 18 of his 19 appearances.

Tommy Fleetwood could also be an interesting play at the prices. But for some suspect putting last season, he would already have a victory in North America to his name. His consistency in the long game remains as solid as ever, and that should put him in a solid position as the weekend progresses.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Picks

Scheffler holds leading claims on his return to action, but he is already incredibly short at the odds available. Therefore, a chance could be taken on an experienced contender- Justin Thomas.

Thomas has been playing well in recent months, and he knows what it takes to get around Pebble Beach. He could be primed to make a bold bid if Scheffler returns out of form, while McIlroy has limited playing experience at the event.
