The college basketball season is heating up as March approaches! In our UConn vs Marquette pick, the Huskies are at risk of dropping out of the top-25. The two-time defending champs face a tough task.
UConn Aims to Bounce Back
UConn has gone just 3-3 over the last few weeks, dropping to 4th place in the Big East. It’s surprising to see after the Huskies completely dominated their opponents for each of the past two seasons. Despite their struggles, UConn is still a title contender. They’ll be aiming to get back on track against Marquette.
The Huskies have dealt with some injuries that are limiting what would otherwise be a much better offense. When not at full strength, they will continue to rely on their defense to pick up the slack. They also need leading scorer Alex Karaban to bounce back after shooting a subpar 4-13 and 1-14 last week.
Marquette Seeks Rivalry Win
Marquette has quietly won 9 of their last 10 games, rising into first place in the Big East conference. Their reward is a spot in the top-10. The Golden Eagles have allowed UConn to get the better of them over the past few years, including last season’s Big East title game. They’ll be seeking revenge in this game.
Entering with the advantage this time, Marquette will look to Kam Jones to continue his excellent play. Jones has reached double-digit scoring in every game this season and averages 19 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 6.3 apg. Expect him to play a lot of minutes and lead the offense against UConn’s very capable defense.
UConn Huskies vs Marquette Golden Eagles Pick
On paper, Marquette has been the better team this season. Coupled with their home-court advantage, and the Golden Eagles should have a strong chance of winning this game. That being said, they can’t overlook the Huskies just because they aren’t as strong this season. UConn has an offense that is capable of catching fire, and I can’t shake the feeling they will in this game. I like the Huskies in an upset.
