Chris Dobey vs. Gerwyn Price

The 2025 edition of the Premier League gets underway with an interesting showdown between Gerwyn Price and Chris Dobey. Price was the runner-up in the event in 2023, and he comes into this showdown chasing revenge after suffering defeat against Dobey at the quarterfinal stage of the World Championships last month.

Dobey’s recent form since his run to the World Championships semi-finals hasn’t been strong, winning just once in his last three. Therefore, Price could avenge his defeat at Ally Pally on the opening night of the Premier League.

Rob Cross vs. Stephen Bunting

Fan favorite Stephen Bunting will have the Glasgow crowd behind him on Thursday, and his form this year has been excellent. He dared to dream that a World Championship bid was possible in January, before those dreams were dashed in the final four by Luke Littler in dominant fashion.

Rob Cross endured a difficult time at Ally Pally, failing to make it past the second round. That recent form would be a concern, meaning that the preference is for Bunting.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Luke Littler

A rematch of the World Championship final is set for the opening night of the Premier League, as Luke Littler is chasing a second straight win over Michael van Gerwen. The Dutchman wasn’t at his best in the clash between the two at Ally Pally last month, as he allowed Littler to dominate the game and break at ease.

Littler will have the added pressure in the Premier League this season as the defending champion, but if anything, the last 12 months have shown us that the teenager doesn’t feel any nerves when he is on the floor.

Luke Humphries vs. Nathan Aspinall

Luke Humphries enjoyed a fine run in his debut edition of the Premier League last year, reaching the final before losing to Littler. He has responded excellently after losing his World Championship title, claiming the Winmau World Masters title this past weekend.

Aspinall’s inclusion in the Premier League raised eye-brows, but his run to the quarterfinals does add weight to the fact that he deserves his spot. However, a fired up Humphries could put him to the sword on Thursday.
