  • Florida held off Texas Tech in a thriller, defeating them by a score of 84-79.
  • Auburn had little trouble against Michigan State, winning 70-64 to advance.
  • These two teams last met on February 8, in a game that Florida won 90-81.

Florida and Auburn will clash to prove which team is the best of the SEC. The winner will earn a spot in the Championship Game where they’ll face off with either Duke or Houston. The Gators won the regular season matchup and are slightly favored to defeat the top-overall seed Tigers.

Florida Aims for Overdue Finals Trip

Florida last made the Finals all the way back in 2007. A nearly 20-year drought saw the Gators slide from perennial contender to a bubble team. That changed this season, as 3rd-year head coach Todd Golden’s system has begun to show its value, especially as the SEC strengthens overall. Florida will need to be more consistent than their last game to take down Auburn here.

Auburn Seeking Revenge on Gators

Auburn’s defeat of Michigan State eliminated the best of the Big-10 from contention. Up next for the Tigers is to assert themselves as the best of the SEC. They finished just ahead of Florida in the regular season standings, but lost the only head-to-head matchup at home. In order to avoid a similar result, Auburn needs to do a better job at limiting the Gators’ interior offense.

Florida Gators vs Auburn Tigers Pick

Walter Clayton Jr. vs Johni Broome is sure to be a sensational matchup. Two of the nation’s most elite scorers will be tasked with leading the way against an opposing top-10 defense. I had Florida over Duke in my original bracket, but I have shifted my belief to thinking it will be Duke over Auburn. The Tigers are the top-overall seed for a reason and looked stellar last week.
