South Carolina and Texas meet in the Final Four in a battle of the SEC’s strongest teams. The Gamecocks are seeking their 3rd title in the last 4 seasons, but first need to topple Texas. The winner of this game will advance to the National Championship Game against UCLA or UConn.
Texas Faces an Uphill Battle
Texas qualified for its first Final Four since 2003 following the win over TCU. The Longhorns suffocated the Horned Frogs defensively, holding them under 50 points. Their defense has been their strong suit all season and will play a large factor in this game. Texas is led by Rori Harmon and Madison Booker who combine to terrorize other teams on both sides of the ball.
South Carolina Remains Unbeatable
South Carolina is in the Final Four for the 5th straight season. After going 38-0 and winning the title last year, the Gamecocks were once again the top team in the Preseason. However, they lost by double digits to both UCLA and UConn, who would await in the finals. Before thinking about that, they need to put the struggles of the last two subpar performances behind them.
Texas Longhorns vs South Carolina Gamecocks Pick
South Carolina winning their last two games by four points apiece has raised enough concerns that they are no longer the odds-on favorite to win the title. Their 54-point performance against Duke was enough for a win in the Elite 8, but they need to find a second gear against Texas’ suffocating defense. With all that being said, they should ultimately still win this game.
