One of the games on Tuesday’s NBA slate features the Golden State Warriors hosting the Memphis Grizzlies. Which team will lock up the No. 7 seed in our Warriors vs Grizzlies pick?
OT Loss To Clips Prevented Golden State From Claiming The No. 6 Seed
After a 133-95 win against the Phoenix Suns on Apr. 8, the Warriors concluded the regular season with two losses in their last three games. Their latest setback includes a 124-119 OT loss against the LA Clippers.
Stephen Curry, one of four players to reach double figures, led the way with a stat line that included 36 points, six assists, three rebounds, and two steals. The sharpshooter also knocked down seven of his 12 attempts from beyond the arc.
Jimmy Butler III was no slouch, either, finishing with 30 points and nine boards on 60 percent shooting from the field. Brandin Podziemski chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four dimes.
After the teams battled to a 111-111 tie through four quarters, the Clippers led by three points with 6.1 seconds left in overtime. Unfortunately, Buddy Hield’s 3-point attempt was off the mark, securing the win for the road team.
Memphis Coming Off Blowout Victory Against Dallas
Meanwhile, after a two-game skid, the Grizzlies bounced back with a convincing 132-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks in the season finale for both teams.
Lamar Stevens set the tone for an offense where six players registered double-digit scoring totals. He finished with 31 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Marvin Bagley III added 25 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Cam Spencer contributed 23 points, seven dimes, and three steals.
Dallas scored the final 10 points of the first half, trimming a 23-point deficit down to 13 points (67-54). However, Memphis pulled away after the break with a 65-43 scoring edge in the second half, including a 37-21 advantage in the third quarter.
Warriors vs Grizzlies: Who Has The Edge In This Play-In Showdown?
Despite their recent setback, the Warriors have won seven of their last 10 games. Although this group is a middle-of-the-road team from an offensive standpoint, it ranks eighth in points allowed and has the seventh-best defensive rating.
On the other hand, the Grizzlies finished the season with a 4-6 mark across its final 10 outings. Compared to Golden State, Memphis excels from a scoring perspective, ranking second in points per game and sixth in offensive efficiency.
The Warriors have won five of the last seven meetings between these franchises, including three of the four regular-season matchups. The Dubs will likely come out on top after letting the sixth seed slip through their grasp.
