Brewers’ Priester Tries To Keep Good Run Going

Milwaukee’s righty Quinn Priester has bounced around after he was a 1st round pick by the Pirates in the 2019 MLB Draft. At the 2024 trade deadline, Pittsburgh sent him to the Red Sox for Nick Yorke. Then, two weeks ago, the Red Sox traded him to the Brewers.

He’s been a revelation for Milwaukee. He has thrown 10 innings in two starts, allowing 7 hits and 1 run.

Despite his brief opportunities in the majors, he has pitched against the Giants. Jung Hoo Lee is 1 for 3 against him. Mike Yastrzemski is 1 for 2. Willy Adames is 1 for 7. No other Giants have gotten a hit.

The Brewers have been struggling at the plate. They recently made a change at 3rd base, recalling Caleb Durbin to take over for the slumping Oliver Dunn/Vinny Capra combo.

Shortstop Joey Ortiz is batting under .200 as is Christian Yelich. Yelich has 4 home runs.

Ray Hopes To Rebound After Poor Start

Robbie Ray is still trying to find his CYA form. The Phillies knocked around the 33-year-old in his last start. He allowed 6 hits, 5 walks, and 4 runs in 4 innings. On a positive note, he struck out 8.

He has only faced the Brewers’ William Contreras, Rhys Hoskins, and Christian Yelich. Hoskins and Yelich have managed a single each.

For the Giants, Jung Hoo Lee is still hot, batting .333 with 3 homers and 14 RBIs and is playing excellent defense.

Willy Adames is still trying to find his way. Perhaps he is trying to justify that huge free agent contract. He is batting .202 with 1 home run. LaMonte Wade is batting .091. Patrick Bailey is at .161.

Brewers vs Giants Pick: San Francisco Will Solve Priester

There might be a certain amount of unfamiliarity benefiting Priester. The Giants have several bats due to break out and it will happen sooner or later. They will take this game at home behind Ray and hand Priester his first loss as a Brewer.
