One of the games on Monday’s NBA slate features the Golden State Warriors hosting the Houston Rockets in Game 4 of a first-round Western Conference playoff series. Will Golden State go up 3-1 in our Warriors vs Rockets pick?
Warriors-Rockets Game 3 Recap
After splitting the first two games in Houston, the Warriors took Game 3 despite Jimmy Butler III being out of the rotation due to a pelvic injury and deep gluteal muscle contusion.
Stephen Curry continues to shine in this series. He spearheaded an offense where four players reached double figures. He scored 36 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out nine assists.
This was his second 30-point performance of the postseason, and the four-time NBA champion is averaging 29 points per contest following a season in which he put up 24.5 points per outing.
A couple of role players had solid performances as well. Buddy Hield had 17 points, including five 3-pointers and Gary Payton II chipped in with 16 points on an efficient 7-for-9 effort from the floor.
On the other side of the matchup, the Rockets’ offense placed five players in double figures, including four of the team’s starters. Fred VanVleet led the way with 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Alperen Sengun finished with a double-double that included 15 points and 11 rebounds. Dillon Brooks had 13 and Amen Thompson added 11.
Golden State trailed by two points heading into the final frame. But this group tightened up its defensive effort, outscoring Houston 35-22. Payton played a significant role, scoring 11 points during that stretch.
Warriors vs Rockets Pick: Which Squad Has The Edge In Game 4 Of This First-Round Matchup?
Which team will rise to the occasion in the next matchup? Here’s a look at a few betting trends for both sides heading into Game 4.
- The Warriors are 15-5 straight-up (SU) in their last 20 contests against Western Conference opponents.
- Conversely, Golden State is 1-8 against the spread in its previous nine Monday night home games.
- The Rockets are 3-17 in their last 20 matchups against the Warriors.
- Houston has covered the spread only three times in their previous 14 outings against Golden State.
Despite the absence of one of its key players, the Warriors produced a double-digit victory following a slow start. If they can duplicate that effort, they should win Game 4, albeit by a smaller margin.
