I've always wondered - is it possible for a boxer to place bets on their own matches? I'm guessing it's not possible to place a bet on themselves to lose because it's easy to fix, but would they be allowed to tell their friends and family to bet on them to win or is that still against the rules?

Ryan Garcia bet $2M on himself to beat Devin Haney and won $12M 😉

Generally, professional boxers are permitted to bet on themselves to win, as this aligns with their intent to perform at their best. But betting against oneself is universally prohibited due to the clear conflict of interest and potential for match-fixing.

Like in most cases in the US, though, it all depends on which jurisdictions. For instance, the Nevada State Athletic Commission allows boxers to place bets on themselves to win. Still, it prohibits wagers on specific outcomes, such as the method or round of victory, to prevent any manipulation of the match's progression.
