One of the games on tap from Tuesday night’s NBA slate features the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Boston Celtics in a battle between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. Will Cleveland notch its 41st win of the season in our Cavaliers vs Celtics pick?
Cavs Look Unstoppable After Blowout Win Against Dallas
Following three straight losses, the Cavaliers have bounced back with victories in their last four outings. This includes a dominant 144-101 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.
The Cavaliers put on a scoring clinic, with eight players reaching double figures. Sam Merrill paced the offense with 27 points off the bench, connecting on nine of his 13 attempts from beyond the arc.
Evan Mobley finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Darius Garland added 17 points and 10 assists, while Jarrett Allen chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Cleveland held a 50-19 advantage after the first quarter and led 91-46 at the break. Needless to say, the rest of the game was just a formality.
The Cavaliers shot a blistering 57 percent overall and 57.8 percent from 3-point range. They outscored Dallas 78-27 from long range and 33 to 11 in fast-break points.
In addition to those numbers, Cleveland also got 70 points from its bench.
Celtics Look To Make It Four Straight
On the other side, the Celtics enter this conference tilt riding a three-game winning streak, including a come-from-behind 118-110 win against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.
Jayson Tatum put on quite the display with 35 points (13-20 FG, 5-8 3PT), 11 assists, and seven rebounds.
Jaylen Brown scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and handed out six assists. Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White added 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Boston trailed by as many as 26 points but trimmed the deficit to 14 after the third quarter. In the final frame, the Celtics seized control of the game, outscoring Philly by a 38-16 margin.
After converting just 33 percent of their shot attempts in the opening half, Boston shot 67.7 percent after the break and 68.2 percent in the fourth quarter.
Cavaliers vs Celtics Pick: Don’t Sleep On The Reigning Champs
The Cavs have won four straight and seven of their last 10. From an offensive standpoint, Cleveland is a top-3 team and a top-10 squad at the other end of the court.
Meanwhile, like the Cavaliers, Boston has also posted seven victories across its previous 10 outings. The Celtics have the third-highest offensive rating and the third-lowest defensive rating.
In a game where both teams excel at both ends of the floor, the outcome of this game will not be decided until the final few possessions. Look for the defending champs to win a close one.
