  • The Cavaliers are 39-9 and have the best record in the Central Division.
  • Dallas is 26-23 and has the third-best record in the Southwest Division.
  • These teams last played on Jan. 3, with the Cavaliers rolling to a 134-122 victory.

One of the games on tap from Sunday’s NBA slate features the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Dallas Mavericks. Will Cleveland stay hot in our Cavaliers vs Mavericks pick?

Cavaliers Hope To Sustain Hot Streak

The Cavaliers hit a mini-slump after a 36-6 start, dropping three straight contests. However, this ball club has responded with consecutive victories against the Detroit Pistons (110-91), Miami Heat (126-106) and the Atlanta Hawks (137-115).

In the 22-point home win against Atlanta, Cleveland got solid contributions from multiple players. Darius Garland led the way with 26 points and seven assists on 11-for-20 shooting from the floor.

Donovan Mitchell put up 24 points, handed out six assists, and went 4-for-10 from beyond the arc. Ty Jerome added 20 points off the bench, while Evan Mobley contributed 16 points, 10 boards, and four dimes.

Cleveland held a 71-63 and led by 11 points in the third quarter. And thanks to a 10-1 run, the Cavaliers increased their lead to 20 points en route to outscoring Atlanta by a sizable 39-21 edge in the period.

Dallas Aims To Bounce Back From Loss Against Pistons

On the other side of this matchup, Dallas recently saw its two-game winning streak end with a 117-102 setback against the Pistons on Friday night. Kyrie Irving was the primary catalyst for a scoring attack in which three starters reached double figures.

He finished with 28 points, six rebounds, and three assists. But the former NBA champion did not shoot the ball particularly well, going 9-for-23 overall and just 3-for-10 from 3-point range.

P.J. Washington produced a solid outing as he finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds (five on the offensive glass), and two blocked shots. Daniel Gafford and Klay Thompson added 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Dallas trailed by eight points (93-85) heading into the final frame and scored the first six points in the fourth to trim the deficit to two points with 10:13 left to play in regulation.

Detroit answered with a 10-2 run, thus putting the game out of reach. The Pistons enjoyed a 16-6 advantage in second-chance points and won the rebounding battle by a 62-46 margin.

Cavaliers vs Mavericks Pick: Cleveland Sweeps Season Series

The Cavaliers enter this tilt on a three-game winning streak and have won six of 10 overall. Cleveland also boasts the second-highest scoring average (122.2 PPG) and the top offense in the league (122.3 Points Per 100 Possessions).

Meanwhile, the Mavericks have gone 4-6 across their last 10 outings. Although they have the seventh-best offensive rating in the NBA, they are a mediocre squad at the other end of the court.

Luka Doncic remains out with a calf injury, and the Cavaliers have won the previous five meetings between these teams. With that in mind, look for Cleveland to get its sixth straight win in this series.
