The competitive action on the Formula 1 schedule continues this weekend, as the Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at the International Circuit. Max Verstappen produced an excellent drive to win in Japan last weekend, but can he record a second straight win to put pressure on Lando Norris?

Event Preview

The fourth race of the season, and second in an Asian triple-header, will see the action move to the Bahrain International Circuit. The Bahrain Grand Prix has been staged annually since 2004, with the field completing a total distance of 191.530 miles, which is made up of 57 laps.

Max Verstappen has been the dominant driver in the race after winning the last two editions. The reigning world champion got his season back on track with a dominant win in Japan last time out, and he is now just a point behind Lando Norris in the standings.

Verstappen has a new Red Bull teammate, but Yuki Tsunoda endured a testing first weekend in the main car after finishing 12th. More will be expected from the Japanese driver by his team.

Despite having the fastest car in the opening three weeks of the season, McLaren had to settle for second and third in Japan. Lando Norris lacked the tactical awareness to overtake Verstappen, while Oscar Piastri appeared to be the quicker of the two McLarens throughout the weekend.

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton endured difficult weekends in the Ferraris, with the former finishing fourth but 16 seconds off the pace. Mercedes will also have something to find this weekend after George Russell finished fifth and Kimi Antonelli took sixth.

There were surprise points finishes for Isack Hadjar in the Racing Bulls and Oliver Bearman in the Haas. The former was one of the best performers of the weekend after making it into Q3 despite issues with his seatbelt.

Bahrain Grand Prix Picks

A more conventional track with overtaking opportunities should suit the McLaren duo this weekend. However, Piastri could be the better player for the team. The Australian was quick throughout the weekend in Japan, and he could showcase his championship credentials with a second race win of the season on Sunday.
