Event Preview

Hugely important action on the PGA Tour will be staged in Florida this weekend, as The Players Championship gets underway on Wednesday. The field will be competing for their share of the $25 million purse at the iconic TPC at Sawgrass. The Stadium Course will be in operation for the event.

Many of the world’s best players will be in action this weekend, with the winning player earning a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour. Furthermore, the winning star earns exemptions for major appearances at the Masters, U.S. Open, and Open Championship.

Scottie Scheffler will once again be among the leading contenders this weekend after winning The Players Championship in each of the last two years. The American finished in a tie for eleventh at the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy both bring winning experience around the course into the weekend. There will be slight pressure on the latter of those players, as McIlroy failed to make any inroads on the field in the final round last weekend after shooting par.

Corey Conners could be an interesting player this weekend. The Canadian finished two shots off the lead in last weekend’s event, and has been playing very consistently so far this calendar year.

The Players Championship Picks

Collin Morikawa looks to have leading claims once again this weekend. The American was narrowly second at the Arnold Palmer Championship last weekend after shooting par on the final round to finish a shot off the lead. His consistency this year entitles him to go close once again this weekend.
