Event Preview

The Valspar Championship is another huge event on the PGA Tour, as excitement levels ahead of the first major of the season continue to increase. This event has been staged in March since 2007, and players will compete over a total distance of 7,340 yards on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Florida.

Returning champions have a strong record in this event, with Sam Burns and Paul Casey both retaining their titles since 2018. The former could be a very interesting betting angle this weekend. He failed to make the cut at The Players last weekend, but that could arguably be a benefit ahead of this weekend’s event.

Tommy Fleetwood will be a very reliable favorite at the top of the betting, as the Brit continues to be ultra-consistent on the Tour. He has made the cut on his previous two appearances at Copperhead, which includes a T3 in 2023. Since the 2024 FedEx Playoffs, he has finished in the top 25 in his last 13 appearances.

Lucas Glover is another interesting angle this weekend. The American enjoyed a strong performance at The Players last weekend after finishing in T3. Meanwhile, he has prior experience at this event after finishing eleventh last year.

Valspar Championship Picks

Shane Lowry ticks plenty of boxes for this weekend’s event. The Irishman has made the cut in all three events in Florida, and he looks more than capable of building on his T12 in the Valspar Championship in 2024.
