Which Rocker Will the Mariners See?
Teams picked Rocker in the top 10 in consecutive MLB drafts in 2021 and 2022, so there’s no denying his talent. Still, he has had injury woes and shown inconsistency. He rebounded against the Rays after a horrific first 2025 start against the Reds.
The big righty has had limited exposure to the Mariners’ hitters. Julio Rodriguez has a single against him. Randy Arozarena and J.P. Crawford are both 0 for 2 with 2 k’s.
The Rangers are off to a good start in the standings, but they have not been hitting. They have shown power but have not hit for average yet.
The Mariners Are Already Looking For a Bat
After injuries to Ryan Bliss and Victor Robles, Seattle is looking for offense somewhere, anywhere. Robles ran into the fence trying to make a circus catch against the Giants and suffered a badly injured shoulder. Bliss tore his biceps.
But even with Robles and Bliss, they weren’t hitting or scoring. Cal Raleigh, Donovan Solano, Crawford, Arozarena, Rodriguez, Mitch Garver, and Luke Raley are not hitting. They lacked urgency in getting offense over the winter, and concerns about it are being proven right.
Woo has been very good, as has the rest of the pitching staff. He pitched 6 innings in his first start against the Athletics and gave up 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 5. In his second start, he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings against the Giants.
The Rangers handled him in the past. Jonah Heim is 3 for 8. Garcia is 1 for 7 with a home run. Seager is 3 for 4 against him with a home run. Semien is 5 for 9 with a home run. If the Rangers’ bats are going to bust out, it will be against Woo.
Rangers vs Mariners Pick: Texas Will Break Out Offensively
The Mariners are without key offensive players, and their excellent pitching is being wasted. Although Rocker is inconsistent and the Rangers have not been hitting much either, several of Texas’ stars hit Woo very well.
The Rangers will break out of their offensive slumber and beat up on the Mariners.
