Event Preview
All the attention on the NASCAR schedule this weekend will be on Las Vegas, the Pennzoil 400 is staged in Sin City. This race is one of two that is held in the Nevada desert, with the other coming in the form of the South Point 400 in the playoffs. Unlike other races, the winner of this weekend’s race will pick up a championship belt.
The field will complete a total of 267 laps in Las Vegas this weekend, which makes up the 400.5 mile race distance. The first two stages both consist of 80 laps apiece, with the final stage seeing the remaining 107 laps completed.
Christopher Bell is very much the driver to beat this weekend, as the American has won each of the last three races. He was excellent at the Shriners Children’s 500 last Sunday, finishing clean of Denny Hamlin.
Despite winning each of the last three races, Bell still only sits second in the overall standings. William Byron continues to set the pace after finishing second in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix after winning the Daytona 500 on the opening weekend.
Tyler Reddick also looks to be a leading contender this weekend. He has finished in the top three in two of the first four races this season, but he will need to bounce back after finishing 20th at the Shriners Children’s 500 last Sunday.
Pennzoil 400 Picks
Christopher Bell’s red-hot form at this stage of the season is incredibly hard to overlook when making selections on Sunday. Bell looks good value to record a fourth straight race win, and that could put him in a prime position to move to the top of the Drivers’ championship standings.
