One of the games on Sunday’s NBA slate features the Memphis Grizzlies hosting the Dallas Mavericks. Can Memphis end its two-game skid in our Grizzlies vs Mavericks pick?
Memphis Looks To Regroup Following Back-To-Back Losses
Following a three-game winning streak, the Grizzlies enter this matchup amid a two-game losing streak. Their latest setback includes a 117-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday.
Desmond Bane scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds. He also shot 3-for-8 from long range.
Ja Morant finished with 21 points but needed 21 attempts to do so. Jaren Jackson Jr. contributed 18, while Luke Kennard and Scotty Pippen Jr. added 12 and 11 off the bench.
Memphis led by as many as 15 points in the first half before Denver cut the deficit to three points heading into the final frame. In the final 12 minutes, the Nuggets outscored the Grizzlies 25-14, including a game-changing 14-1 burst in the final six minutes of action.
Mavericks Coming Off Blowout Win Over Raptors
After a three-game losing streak, the Mavericks trounced the Raptors 124-102 on Friday night. Anthony Davis, one of six players to reach double figures, led the way with a triple-double that included 23 points, 13 boards, and 10 dimes. The Mavericks big man also tallied seven blocked shots.
P.J. Washington added 14. Dereck Lively II put up 10, and Brandon Williams and Max Christie contributed 17 points apiece off the bench.
Dallas jumped out to a 10-point advantage after the first quarter. However, they took control of the contest for good in the second quarter, outscoring Toronto by a 31-13 margin.
The Mavericks shot 65 percent, while the Raptors shot 19.4 percent, missing all nine of their 3-point attempts during the game-changing stretch.
Grizzlies vs Mavericks Pick: Who Has The Edge In This Conference Showdown?
Neither team has been great down the stretch. Memphis has gone 4-6 in their last 10 games and has the sixth-worst scoring defense, allowing 117.1 points per outing.
On the other hand, the Mavericks have split their previous 10 contests. This group is mediocre at best, ranking 20th in defensive rating and 14th in offensive efficiency.
The Grizzlies have won four of the last seven meetings between these franchises, including two of the three matchups this season. With neither team having much to play for, Memphis should come away with the win.
