  • The New York Knicks are one win away from advancing to the next round.
  • Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons look to stave off elimination in Game 5.
  • These teams last played on Apr. 27, with the Knicks escaping with a one-point victory.

One of the games on Tuesday’s NBA slate features the New York Knicks hosting the Detroit Pistons in Game 5 of a first-round Eastern Conference playoff series. Will New York close out the series in our Knicks vs Pistons pick?

Knicks-Pistons Game 4 Recap

After splitting the first two games of the series, the Knicks have put together back-to-back wins, including a 94-93 victory in Game 4.

Jalen Brunson was one of three players who reached double figures. He scored 32 points, handed out 11 assists, and grabbed five rebounds.

Karl-Anthony Towns made his presence felt with 27 points and nine boards. New York’s big man also knocked down five of his seven attempts from beyond the arc.

On the other side of the matchup, Cade Cunningham was the headline performer for Detroit. He finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and four blocked shots.

Tobias Harris logged 18 points and eight rebounds, and Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 14 points, but shot just 5-for-16 from the floor.

New York trailed by as many as 11 points in the final frame. But with the Pistons leading 93-91, Towns hit a huge 3-pointer, giving the Knicks a one-point advantage (94-93).

In the game’s final sequence, Hardway put up a shot from the left side and drew contact from Josh Hart. Unfortunately, the officiating crew did not blow the whistle.

While they did admit that Hart made more than marginal contact with Hardaway after the fact, the saying “too little, too late” comes to mind in this scenario.

Knicks vs Pistons Pick: Does New York Advance Or Does Detroit Force A Game 6?

Will New York end the series with three straight wins, or will Detroit extend the series to a sixth game in the next matchup? Here’s a look at a few betting trends for both sides heading into Game 5.

  • The Knicks are 7-2 straight-up (SU) in their last nine Tuesday night games.
  • New York is 8-3 against the spread in its previous 11 home contests.
  • The Pistons are just 4-16 in their last 20 matchups against the Knicks.
  • Detroit is 2-6 ATS in its previous eight road outings.

In what has been a chippy, physical series thus far, expect more of the same in Game 5. But given that New York has taken Detroit’s best shot, this team is primed to close out the series when these teams square off on Tuesday night.
